Another great Feline Friday!

Oct 25, 2023

Let's see.

I’ll comment on a few of this week's photos.

Oh, my. The low angle of the morning light shows off all the cat hair on the floor and furniture. Most of the day, it remains invisible. It's just one of the costs of keeping the cats indoors.

Speaking of indoors…This week Kinikini escaped for the first time as we were coming into the house from the garage. Luckily, we close the garage behind us before opening the door to the house, so that he just raced into the "new" space, circled the car, and then was freaked out enough by the experience to race back to the door by himself to be let back into the house. But it appears to have whet his appetite for exploration, and we have now had to prepare ourselves before opening the door. I suppose I may have to let him explore, but…we’ll just have to see where this goes.

You’ll notice that Bessie is sporting an injured nose. It looks like when she was objecting to being locked in a carrier and taken to the vet last week, she managed to scrape the fur off of her nose pushing on the door to escape. It wasn't immediately obvious, but we soon noticed the damage. It appears that new fur is now growing, but it's still a work in progress. The only good thing is that it doesn't seem to bother her, and she isn't scratching or otherwise fussing with it. Hopefully no long term damage, but we’re watching it closely.

There's another photo that needs explanation. Bessie is sitting on the counter in front of the kitchen sink. She's staring at the shadow of a dove sitting on the edge of the garage roof that created a live silhouette on the window shade. She was riveted on the sight until the bird decided to fly away

Then there's the fresh pineapple that our friends harvested from their garden in Kaaawa. A wonderful gift. And Ms. Kali thought so, too! It not only smelled good, but proved to be a really good place for a cat to scratch herself! We wrecked it by cutting it up and eating it with little regard for the little feline pleasure.

And then there's Kinikini claiming the spot of sun that is appearing each afternoon in our bedroom. That great afternoon sun will be moving through the house over the next few months, spreading happy, lazy cats in its wake.

In any case, on to this week's photos!
